Solarpunk Weather Stations: Predict & Prepare

Weather in Solarpunk is dynamic, not random. The game tracks a 3-day forecast, and the right weather station lets you read that forecast one day in advance. This guide covers the 6 weather events, how to build a station, and the exact pre-event checklist for each.

EventEffect
Light RainCrops grow 20% faster for 1 day. No damage.
Heavy RainCrops grow 50% faster for 1 day. Floods low-lying farms.
DroughtSprinklers cost 2x power. No rain for 2 days.
Wind StormUnanchored blocks fly away. Airship flights unsafe.
FogVisibility -50%. Scout missions delayed.
Heat WaveStamina drain +30%. Carry extra water.

Build a Weather Station

  1. Craft 1 Weather Vane (10 wood + 5 iron).
  2. Craft 1 Forecast Module (Tier 3 research, 20 copper + 5 rare alloy).
  3. Place both on top of a 3-block tower (must be the highest point within 16 blocks).
  4. Power with a single solar panel — 5W draw.
  5. Open the forecast UI (default key: M) to see the next 3 days.

Pre-Event Checklist (Copy These)

Before a heavy rain: Move farm chests to higher ground. Drones auto-pause in floods.

Before a drought: Fill all water tanks. Switch sprinklers to "eco mode".

Before a wind storm: Anchor all blocks with the /anchor command. Do not fly.

Before fog: Mark scout routes with torches. Set a co-op rally point.

Before a heat wave: Brew 4 stamina teas. Distribute one per player.

Why Most Players Skip the Weather Station

The forecast module costs Tier 3 research, which most players skip in favor of drones or irrigation. That is a mistake — the first time a wind storm hits an unanchored base, you lose 3 hours of progress. The 25 minutes of research is the cheapest insurance in the game.
